How to Get More Likes on Facebook

Invite your friends to follow your Page, post photos and video often, reply to every comment, and post when Insights says your audience is online. Skip engagement bait, since Facebook demotes it.

The short answer

Invite your friends to follow your Page. Post photos and video, not just text. Reply to every comment. Post when your audience is online, which Insights shows you. Do not beg for likes, since Facebook demotes that. Paid reach exists too, and we cover it at the end.

Likes, follows and followers: what counts now

Facebook has three things people mix up.

Term What it is Where you see it
Post like A reaction on one post Under the post
Page follow Someone gets your Page’s posts in their Feed Your Page’s follower count
Profile follow Someone follows your personal profile Needs pro mode turned on

Page likes used to be a separate number. That changed. Facebook says Pages that had a Like button now only have a Follow button. If someone liked and followed your Page, they still follow it. If they only liked it, that link was removed.

So when people say “get likes on my Page,” they now mean followers. Facebook’s Insights also dropped like data and shows follows only.

Free ways that move the number

These come from Facebook’s own tools, plus plain habits that work.

  • Invite your friends. Go to your Page, click Options under the cover photo, then Invite friends. Pick people and click Send invitations. Facebook’s invite guide has the steps for desktop and app.
  • Post photos and video. Upload them straight to Facebook. A post with a picture gets more stops in the Feed than a bare link.
  • Ask one real question. “Which one should we make next?” gets replies. Replies keep the post moving.
  • Reply to every comment. Each reply is one more piece of engagement on that post. It also brings the commenter back.
  • Share to groups you are in. On your Page post, click Share, then Share to a group. Pick the group and post. Some groups need admin approval for your first post.
  • Cross-post from Instagram. Before you share a post on Instagram, tap Also share on, then turn on your Facebook Page. You can also turn on sharing for all posts in Accounts Center under Sharing across profiles.
  • Invite people who reacted. Many Pages see an Invite button next to names in a post’s reaction list. Facebook does not publish a help page on it, so check your own Page to see if you have it.

Working from a personal profile instead of a Page? Turn on pro mode. Click Options under your cover photo, then Turn on pro mode. Your follow setting switches to Public, and you get insights.

Post when your audience is online

Facebook’s Page Insights show when your audience is on Facebook. Open your Page, go to Professional dashboard, then Insights. You need data from 100 or more people before age, gender and location show up. See Facebook’s Insights help page for the full list.

Pick your two best hours and post then. Then stick with it for two weeks before you judge.

What hurts your likes

Engagement bait. This means asking for likes, shares, comments, tags or votes just to get reach. Lines like “Like if you agree” or “Comment YES to see part two” count. Meta reduces the reach of these posts. Pages that do it again and again get demoted more. Asking for help, like finding a missing pet or raising money, is allowed.

Fake likes. Meta’s spam rules ban buying likes from bots or trading them in like-for-like groups. Those likes break the rules and bring no real people.

Text-only posts and old links. They give the Feed nothing to show. Add a photo at the very least.

Posting at the wrong time. A great post at 3 a.m. gets buried before anyone wakes up.

Why am I not getting likes on Facebook?

Check these in order.

  1. Reach. Open Insights. If reach is near zero, the problem is reach, not the content. Invite friends and share to groups first.
  2. Timing. Compare your post times with the hours your audience is online.
  3. Format. If your last ten posts were text or links, switch to photos and video.
  4. Account trouble. If your Page was hacked, restricted or locked, likes stop. Our guides on contacting Facebook and recovering a hacked account cover the fixes.
  5. Your own count. Facebook rounds numbers on Pages. There is no Facebook tool from us, but our Instagram follower count checker helps if you track your Instagram side too.

Facebook’s own route is a boosted post. Click Boost post under a post, pick the audience, and set the budget and the number of days. You can aim the boost at people who follow your Page, their friends, or a new audience.

Famoid sells Facebook post likes and Page likes delivered through ads. We do not use bots. We only need the post link or Page link, never your password. Paid reach helps a post get seen, but the post itself still has to be worth a like.

Quick answers

The short version, for people in a hurry.

Post photos and video, ask a real question, and reply to each comment. Post when your audience is online, which you can see in Insights. Share the post to groups you belong to.
Use the Invite friends option under your Page's cover photo. Pages now show a Follow button instead of Like, so people who accept become followers. Share your Page in groups and cross-post from Instagram.
The usual causes are low reach, posting when your audience is offline, text-only posts, and engagement bait. Check Insights to see when people are on Facebook, then post photos or video at that time.
Following puts a Page's posts in your Feed. Facebook replaced the Like button on Pages with a Follow button. If someone only liked a Page and never followed it, that link was removed.
Yes. Posts that ask for likes, shares, comments or votes just to get reach are called engagement bait. Facebook reduces their distribution, and Pages that do it often get demoted more.
Facebook sells reach through boosted posts and ads. Its spam rules ban fake engagement from bots or like-exchange groups. Famoid sells Facebook likes delivered through ads, not bots.
