What you can and cannot hide
Here is the honest answer, because most guides blur it.
| What | Can you hide it? |
|---|---|
| Your follower count | No |
| Your following count | No |
| Who you follow (Following list) | Yes, from everyone |
| Who follows you (Followers list) | From non-followers only, with a private account |
The numbers stay public no matter what. The names are what you control.
How to hide your Following list
This setting hides the names of people you follow. Only you can see the list.
- Tap Profile in the bottom right.
- Tap the menu (three lines) in the top right.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Privacy.
- Tap Following list.
- Choose Only me.
The other option is Everyone. There is no “followers only” choice for this list. After you switch it, anyone who taps your Following count sees a locked message instead of names. The count itself still shows.
How to hide your Followers list
TikTok has no direct switch for this. The way to hide it is to make your account private.
- Go to Settings and privacy → Privacy.
- Turn on Private account.
Now people who do not follow you cannot open your Followers list, your Following list, or your videos. They still see your name, photo, bio, and all three counts.
What your followers can still see
A private account hides things from strangers, not from followers. Anyone you have approved can:
- Open your Followers list and see every name
- Watch all your videos
- See your likes if you have not hidden them
If you have set your Following list to Only me, followers cannot see that one. That is the only list you can hide from everyone.
To hide your liked videos too: Settings and privacy → Privacy → Liked videos → Only me.
Remove a follower you do not want
Hiding the list does not remove anyone. If one person is the problem, remove them.
- Open your Followers list.
- Tap the three dots next to their name.
- Tap Remove this follower.
They are not told. They can follow again, so block them if you need to.
Is there a TikTok following list viewer?
No. Some sites claim they can show a private Following list. They cannot. TikTok does not expose that data to anyone. Those sites do one of two things. They show fake data. Or they ask for your login and take your account.
We see this often with people who come to us after a hack. The story is almost always the same. They entered their TikTok password on a “viewer” site. Never give your password to any site that is not TikTok. If you already did, change it now and turn on two-step verification. TikTok has steps on its support site.
The only public tools that work read public numbers only. Our free TikTok counter shows a live follower count for any public username. It never shows names and never asks for a password.
How this differs from Instagram
Instagram is the same on counts. You cannot hide those either. But Instagram has no setting to hide your Following list on its own. There, a private account is the only option. TikTok gives you one more switch. See our guide on how to hide followers on Instagram for the full comparison.
If you want the count to change instead
Some people want to hide followers because the number feels low. You cannot hide it, but you can grow it. Our guide on how to get more followers on TikTok covers what works. Famoid also sells TikTok followers, likes and views with paced delivery. We only need your username, never your password. For more on privacy settings, read the TikTok Creator Portal.
