What is a TikTok shadowban?
A shadowban is a hidden limit on your reach. TikTok does not tell you. Your account looks normal. But your videos stop going to the For You page. They also drop out of search and hashtag pages.
Your followers may still see your posts. People who do not follow you will not. Views get stuck at 0 or at a low number, often around 200.
TikTok does not use the word “shadowban”. It talks about videos that are “not eligible for recommendation”. Same thing from your side.
Am I shadowbanned? How to check
Do these three checks before you panic. One bad video is not a ban. Three or four in a row is a pattern.
- Open Analytics. Tap Profile → menu → TikTok Studio → Analytics. Open your last few videos and look at Traffic sources. If For You sits at 0% on several videos, that is the main sign.
- Search for your video logged out. Use a second phone or log out. Search a unique phrase from your caption or your hashtag. If your video never shows, it is hidden.
- Compare the numbers. A normal small account gets a few hundred For You views per video. A shadowbanned one gets almost none. Views come only from Following and Profile.
Our free TikTok counter shows your live follower count. If followers stop growing at the same time views fall, that backs up the pattern.
Why am I shadowbanned on TikTok?
These are the causes we see most often on accounts that come to us.
- A community guideline hit. A video got removed or flagged. Even one can limit reach for a while. Read the TikTok Community Guidelines to see what counts.
- Duplicate or reposted content. Videos with another app’s watermark, or the same clip posted many times, get filtered.
- Spammy hashtags. Tags like #fyp in bulk, or tags that do not match the video.
- Mass follow and unfollow. Following hundreds of people fast looks like a bot.
- Under-13 flags. If TikTok thinks the account owner is a child, reach is cut. Wrong birthdays at signup cause this.
- Sudden fake-looking growth. A huge spike of followers on a tiny account in one hour can trip spam filters.
On that last point, we run TikTok orders every day. A 20-follower account that gains 10,000 in one night looks wrong to any filter. That is why Famoid paces delivery over time. It looks like normal growth. We only need your username, never your password. You can see the options on our TikTok page.
How long does a TikTok shadowban last?
Most creators report about two weeks. Some lift in three or four days. Accounts with repeat hits can stay limited longer. TikTok does not publish a timeline, so treat two weeks as a rough guide.
How to get unshadowbanned on TikTok
Work through these steps in order. Then give it time.
- Find and delete the problem video. Check your inbox for any notice from TikTok. Remove any video that was flagged or that sits close to a rule.
- Stop the behavior. No mass following, no repeated hashtags, no reposts with watermarks.
- Fix your birthday if it is wrong. Go to Settings and privacy → Account. If TikTok will not let you change it, contact TikTok support.
- Clear your cache and update the app. It does not lift a ban, but it rules out a loading bug. See how to clear TikTok cache.
- Post original videos on a normal schedule. Two or three a week is fine. Keep them clean and on topic.
- Appeal if a video was removed. Tap the notice and use the appeal button. Appeals that win often restore reach fast.
- Wait two weeks. Check Traffic sources again. When For You views return, you are out.
What not to do
- Do not delete the account. You lose everything and the device can still carry the flag.
- Do not make a new account on the same phone right away. It often starts limited too.
- Do not spam “unshadowban” tricks. Posting 20 videos a day or switching to a business account does not reset anything.
Is it a shadowban or a slow week?
Reach on TikTok swings a lot. A video can get 200 views one day and 20,000 the next. Before you call it a ban, check that TikTok is not having an outage on our status page. Then look at three or four videos, not one. If For You traffic is still there, even small, you are not banned. You just need a better video. Our guide on how to get more followers on TikTok covers that.
