What TikTok coins are
TikTok coins are the app’s virtual money. You buy them with real money. Then you spend them on gifts for creators, mostly during Lives. You can also use them to promote your own videos.
Coins only go one way. You cannot turn coins back into cash. Only the creator who gets the gift can cash out, and only as Diamonds. More on that below.
How to recharge TikTok coins in the app
- Tap Profile, then the menu (three lines).
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Balance.
- Tap Recharge.
- Pick a bundle and pay through the App Store or Google Play.
You can also tap the gift icon during a Live and tap Recharge there. The price is the same.
How to recharge TikTok coins on the website
The web recharge is usually cheaper. Apple and Google take a cut of every in-app purchase. TikTok adds that cost to the app price. The website skips it.
- Go to tiktok.com/coin and log in.
- Pick a bundle, or type a custom amount.
- Pay by card, or by another method offered in your country.
- Coins land in your account within a minute or two.
The gap per bundle is small, but it adds up if you gift often. Check both prices once and you will see it.
Coin bundle sizes
Both the app and the web sell set bundles. Common sizes are:
- 70 coins (bundle sizes vary a little by region)
- 350 coins
- 700 coins
- 1,400 coins
- 3,500 coins
- 7,000 coins
- 17,500 coins
The web also lets you type any amount. Prices shift with your country and currency, so we will not quote exact dollars. The app shows the price before you pay.

What the creator gets
When you send a gift, the creator gets Diamonds. Diamonds are TikTok’s creator-side currency. The creator can cash out Diamonds once they reach the minimum in their country.
The cash value is roughly half the coin value. TikTok keeps the rest. So a 1,000-coin Galaxy is worth about half its purchase price to the creator. A creator needs 1,000 followers to go Live and receive gifts. See our guide on TikTok Live requirements.
Safety: never buy coins from third-party sites
Search “cheap TikTok recharge” and you will find sites that promise coins at a big discount. Do not use them. They ask for your TikTok login. That gives them your account. We have talked to people who lost their whole account this way.
The only safe places to recharge are the TikTok app and tiktok.com/coin. TikTok says the same on its support pages. If a deal looks too good, it is.
Also watch for:
- Gift cards for TikTok coins sold by people you do not know
- Anyone who asks you to log in on their site
- “Free coins” apps or videos
