How to Get More Likes on TikTok

Likes follow watch time. Make videos people finish, then give them a clear reason to tap the heart. Here are the steps, in order.

The short answer

Likes come after watch time. TikTok’s For You feed shows a video to more people when they finish it, like it, share it, or comment on it. So first make a video that people watch to the end. Then ask for the like, post when your viewers are online, and reply to comments. Do this on every video for a few weeks, and the likes follow.

Why you’re not getting likes

Most videos with few likes share one problem. People skip them in the first two seconds. A skip is a signal too. TikTok’s how TikTok recommends content page lists “watch in full or skip” next to likes, shares, and comments. When people skip, fewer people see the video. Fewer views means fewer likes.

Other common causes:

  • No clear point. The viewer does not know what they are watching.
  • Bad timing. You posted when your viewers were asleep.
  • No reason to tap. The video ends and nothing asks for a like.
  • The count is behind. TikTok says likes can take time to update. Check again in a day.

If a video is stuck at almost no views, the problem is views, not likes. Our how to get more views on TikTok guide covers review holds and For You feed eligibility.

Make videos that earn a like

A like is a small thank you. People give it when a video pays off. Plan the payoff before you film.

Part of the video What to do Why it earns a like
First 2 seconds Show the result, or ask the question Stops the skip
Middle One idea, quick cuts, on-screen text Keeps people to the end
Last 3 seconds Give the payoff, then ask for the like Gives a reason to tap

A few hooks that work well for likes:

  • The reveal. Show the finished thing first, then how you did it.
  • The tip. “You’re doing this wrong.” Then show the fix.
  • The list. “Three things I wish I knew.” People like lists they want to keep.
  • The relatable moment. A small daily thing people recognize.

Use a sound. TikTok lists sounds as a content signal for the For You feed. A sound that is rising still helps. Put the topic in the caption and in on-screen text as well.

Ask for the like, the right way

Asking works when you give a reason. Say it once, at the end or in the caption.

  • “Like this if you want part two.”
  • “Like it so you can find it later.”
  • “Like if you’ve been there.”

Keep the ask short. Do not stack three requests. One ask, one reason. People can tap the heart or double-tap the video, so make the last second calm enough to tap.

Post when your viewers are online

A video people like gets shown to more people. Likes need viewers, so post when yours are active.

TikTok Studio shows this. Tap Profile, then the Menu button at the top, then TikTok Studio. Open Analytics. The Viewers tab shows the activity times of your viewers. Post an hour before the peak. Our best time to post on TikTok guide explains how to read the chart.

TikTok’s own advice is to post good videos on a regular basis. Pick a schedule you can keep.

Reply to comments and build a series

TikTok’s how to grow your audience page says to engage with viewers through comments and LIVE. Replies keep people on your video. They also give the feed more comments to count.

Comments are also your next idea. TikTok’s comment insights sort comments into topics and questions. Open a post, tap More insights, then the Engagement tab. Turn the top question into part two.

That is how a series starts. A series gives people a reason to like and to come back.

  • Number the parts in the title text.
  • End each part with a question the next part answers.
  • Pin the comment that asked for it.

TikTok also suggests trying videos longer than one minute, and working with other creators through Duet, Stitch, and LIVE. A Duet with a bigger account can bring new people to your series.

Promote is TikTok’s own ad tool. It turns a public post into an ad. You must be 18 or older, have a creator or Business Account, and use an original sound or one cleared for commercial use. You pick a goal, set a budget, and pay in local currency or Coins. Promote reports likes, new followers, and views. TikTok says on its Promote page that results are not guaranteed.

Famoid sells TikTok likes delivered through ads. Use it to give a first push to a video people already finish. It will not fix a video that gets skipped, and we do not promise a number. We only ask for your username, never your password.

Where to see your likes

Your profile shows total likes. TikTok adds up the likes on every post that is still on your profile. Delete a post, and its likes leave the total. TikTok also says the number can lag on a slow connection.

For each post, open TikTok Studio and go to Posts. You see likes, shares, and views for every video. Watch which hook got the most likes, and make the next video the same way.

Likes move fast. Followers move slower. Our free TikTok counter shows your live follower number, so you can see if a video that got likes also brought people in.

Quick answers

The short version, for people in a hurry.

Most often, people skip the video in the first two seconds. TikTok's feed counts a skip as a signal, so fewer people see the video. Fewer views means fewer likes. Fix the opening first. Also check that you posted when your viewers were online, and give the count a day, since TikTok says likes can take time to update.
Start the video with the result or the question. Keep it short. End with one line that asks for the like and says why, like a part two. Post when your viewers are active. That is the fastest honest way. Paid pushes exist too, but they cannot promise a number.
Yes. TikTok lists likes, shares, comments, and watching in full or skipping as the user signals its For You feed looks at. Watch time is weighed the most. A video that people finish and like tends to get shown to more people.
TikTok only counts likes from posts that are still on your profile. If you delete a post, or TikTok removes one, its likes leave your total. Slow internet can also make the number lag. Compare your post likes with the profile number to check.
Your total is on your profile. For each post, open TikTok Studio from the menu on your profile. The Posts list shows likes, shares, and views for every video. The Viewers tab in Analytics also shows when your viewers are active.
Yes, in two ways. Promote is TikTok's own ad tool. It turns a public post into an ad and reports likes, but TikTok says results are not guaranteed. Famoid sells TikTok likes delivered through ads. Neither one can fix a video that people skip.
