      When I attach my ID to the request page and submit it one of two things happens:

      1. I get a message telling me the picture is too small. I’ve read other posts saying to upload a PNG file, which I’ve also done. This brings me to the second thing that happens,

      Yes its a very big issue of Facebook, in order to get back your account even if e-mail and password changed,
      You must try to reset your password from a browser or mobile phone that you’ve used Facebook on mostly.
      Otherwise, you’ll not be able to reset password but if your browser recognized by Facebook, you can reset it!

      Hello Famoid so far you are the most ok guy to somehow somewhat give people having the same issue regarding hacked account a little ray of sunshine. My problem is also similar to them it’s just that not only my Facebook(email, password, associated number changed) but also messed up my linked Instagram. The good thing is I was able to retrieve and secure my Instagram account. The problem is my Facebook still remain as is…no access. I did a little research; even went to the trouble of checking my account(now with a different name and location, most pics deleted yet posts still there and friends list ok with a few added people of which I think from the hackers location) through a dummy account or borrowed friend’s account with permission…gained few infos. Tried scaring him, didn’t work(he does reply every now and then). I was able to get a hold of the new email he used on my account though and it is accurate through my research(I checked the people he added). I tried all the possible steps(not a hundred percent sure though done the right way but tried multiple combinations with the processes) written in your post but to no avail. I have already asked to friends to report but still not disabled therefore last option where it requires submitting ids will not be an option just yet. Is there any way you can help me? The new email on the account is xxxx. Hope we can communicate. I listed my email by the way.

What I didn’t realise at the time, was that the hacker/s had started using my Facebook ad manager to run a campaign, charging over $4000AUD to my bank account.       Please try to reset your password from your device which you’ve used for Facebook login mostly.
      If you use that device, Facebook will detect it and will enable you to change your password without ID verification.

      Click that link from the device you use mostly for Facebook, then you’ll be able to change your password without verification.

    Hi famoid. Logged back into Facebook after many years. Note that I’m on a new device and don’t have access to the old one. So I was logged in just fine, but it was a subtle Mike->Michael namechange that locked me out.

    Got access to email and can reset password, but it keeps coming with an identity check after. Now when I finally managed to get three codes from Trusted Contacts, submitting them shows an error “The text you entered does not match the security check. Try again.”

    Famoid, I spent yesterday afternoon & today trying to recover my hacked facebook account using Facebook Help which is the same as all the steps you mentioned but to no avail. Despite the 2 factor verification, the hacker still manage to hacked my account, I tried resetting so many times, gave a different email than the one in my FB, send my ID verification, received the link click the link which you can only used once and gives you a screen to enter the code. I never received any code but it already states , the code is not valid anymore or you have tried entering too many codes-try again later. When I click on “didn’t get a code’, it brings you back to resetting the account with the hacker’s email and the cycle begins. I tried using a different email, but it is the same. So I signed up for another Facebook account & gave the same cell phone. The response was,”You can’t use Facebook right now. We are reviewing the photo sent to us….” I realized i should have use an email instead of my phone because now, when I tried to open facebook, the new account comes up and when I log in, the same message comes about not being able to use facebook right now. I can access all my emails so I changed every password & secured it with 2 step verification for gmail & yahoo accounts. When I opened the email associated with my facebook & checked recent aciivity, it shows that the hacker downloaded a hacebook hack application from Crypstake,com ( I tried to go there but site can not be reached) and on the email added his email which I deleted. I sent several “my account was compromised” & hope facebook can get me back my account & put more security since their 2 factor didn’t work. Thank you for your help if you have other solutions.

      Very sorry for the situation.
      Sadly, Facebook has many bugs / vulnerabilities inside.
      So some people can hack the account even if 2FA enabled, I am sure that this is the biggest issue of Facebook for now.
      Only thing you can do is that when Facebook replies to your Identity verification case, you’ll be able to reply that e-mail.
      So, you can mention this problem in this e-mail thread, and they will fix it!
      In this case, direct contact with Facebook is obligatory, so you need to wait to get response from Facebook.

    My husband’s account got hacked. The email linked to his account is so old we can’t access it anymore. He submitted his ID and got a link from FB, which in turn says “you have tried entering too many codes. try again later.” He never gets a code though. And at the bottom of the error, it has a link that says “didn’t get a code?” When he clicks the link it says it will send a code to the old email he can’t access. So we just go round and round in circles on this.

    I have already followed method 3 and sent copy of passport, Facebook seemed happy with this and said my account would be restored but so far nothing.
    A bit of background. I had a message on Thursday night from Facebook to say someone had tried to access my account from Iraq. I changed to another very strong password. Everything seemed ok but on Friday I was logged out and asked by Facebook to log back in again when I done so it said I had entered a wrong password?!
    I have no access to my very old Hotmail account and have tried to retrieve it but no luck. My mobile telephone number (which I can longer see but could on Friday) is invalid so someone has changed my mobile number on my account.
    I have no way of getting a code from Facebook to access my account again as its only allowing me have the recovery code sent to my email which I cant access.
    Is it just a waiting game until Facebook get back to me or is there anything else I can do? Many thanks.

    My account was hacked last week, I received 2 emails from Facebook – 1st to say that ‘Your Facebook account has been logged in to recently using a confirmation code and my current email address’ , the 2nd one just over an hour later to say ‘It looks like someone may have accessed your Facebook account. To secure your account, you’ll need to answer a few questions and change your password the next time you go to Facebook.For your protection, no one can see you on Facebook until you secure your account.’

    I tried to log in but with no joy, I did manage to change my Password and received an email with my confirmation code on it and then an email confirming password change.

    When I try to log in it says I need to secure my account, for the 1st few days an error message came up, the last few days has let me secure my account through 3 different methods – list of other devices I have logged in through, recent comments made and identify 5 photos of friends.
    The list of devices are just a list, then an error message occurs.

    The photos are all identified correctly and then an error message occurs
    It is the same error message every time which says ‘Sorry this feature is not available right now.An error occurred while processing this request. Please try again later.’

    I have tried to reply to the security@facebook email address but it is a no reply
    I have tried uploading my ID but it says that ‘This email address does not belong to a disabled account
    This email address you entered does not belong to a disabled account. You may only appeal a disabled account from this contact form.’

    I am now at a loss as to what to do next.I am aware my profile cannot been seen on Facebook and so are they but I cannot find a way to communicate with them about how to identify myself.

    The methods you give above (including sending your ID) will only work if the email or phone number is still the same on the hacked account. If like me, both email and phone# were changed, you are SOL. There is no way to do it unless FB decides to add customer service. I am devastated. 10 years worth of friends and memories lost.

      Facebook keep your changed e-mail in memory for 7 days in case of stealth.
      So even if the hacker changes it, you’ll still have chance to send request for 7 days.

    their new facebook recovery system is so stupid. I know my password and id but I have to ask security code from my face book friends in order to recover my fb account. I’m not a daily facebook user and so are my fb friends. if I ask them to send me the codes it might take forever. some of fb friends are basically the strangers. I cannot ask them to visit https://www.facebook.com/recover and send me the codes. I can get just one code from only one of five fb friends they selected. others are rarely login or strangers. and their isn’t another way to recover my account!! how patheric!!! shame on facebook tech team.     A friend’s FB was hacked along with his yahoo email address. The hacker is from Hong Kong, I was able to download the account data to figure out what happened and found out that FB blocked the hacker from posting for 14 days, he posted offensive and XXX content. My friend was able to recover his yahoo email and he was able to change the PW for FB through the link in his email. We are stuck at the Phone Number verification screen, our guess is that the hacker changed the recovery phone number to his. My friend uses a pseudo name for this FB account, so ID verification is not an option.       In Facebook.com/hacked, even if hacker changed your data, Facebook stores the old ones for 48hrs in case of any hacking situation.
      So please try all old e-mails you remember or phone number.

    In my case, I was randomly logged out and tried to log back in. After entering my password, it goes onto a security check to with a code being sent to an old number that I don’t have access to (it was a number from when I lived in Spain and I have since moved and the number is no longer active).     It looks like Facebook hacking is affect huge numbers of people, including me!! I live in Western Australia, and received questionable email from FB on Jan 28 at 11.28pm, saying my acc had been logged into on Jan 28 at 11.23 pm by someone using a Windows 10 machine. I use Macs, so I guessed this was a hack.

    They said my acc was safe but just wanted to make sure it was me who logged in. They then asked me to log into the supplied Facebook link so they can run me through a few steps if I was suspicious.

    I was suspicious of both the email and the claim, and went to my FB page on my imac, and it immediately refreshed and came back with a page saying: “Please confirm my identity” with a 3 step process, and hit ‘continue’, which I did.

    The next page had two selection buttons: either have an 8 digit code sent to my email, or ‘Approve a login on another device’.
    I chose the email code. I have not received an email from FB after about 20 attempts.

    I then chose the new device, which didnt work either.

    Another selection came up to pick 3 of my ‘FB friends’ and call them to discuss whats happening, and for them to go to site callled facebook.com/recover to get a code which they can send to me. No one can find where the codes are on this page, and I cannot access it to see?

    Im now worn out and cant see a way through, until I found your blog!!

    Honestly, Facebook security is a mess. My friend’s account got taken over by some nut job and of course the first thing he did was change the mail address and phone number to his own. From that moment, there is NO WAY WHATSOEVER to get it back easily! Every bloody link facebook offers asks to enter your phone or mail address…. well morons, GUESS WHAT? This is SOOOOOO FRUSTRATING that these clowns do not see the perfectly obvious!

    I have just seen your article on hacked Facebook accounts, I was wondering if you could help me it was recently hacked and deactivated within 10 minuets of me not even on it, I wouldn’t be that upset but I have 10 years of memories on it and also some family members that are no longer with me that I find comfort in messaging from time to time and would be heart broken if I count re-activate it! I have tried all the ways possible to regain access, the last being sending id verification.     I have done Method 3 as directed, but it will not submit ID and states “Your information could not be submitted. Log in to your account to get back on Facebook, or to see further instructions”.

    When I do log in, I still cannot get past the login code verification.

    Please help.

    My Facebook was hacked a few days ago and I have tried everything to retrieve it. The hacker changed all information associated with my account. When I try to send the form with my photo ID it tells me my email is not associated with a FB account. Because the hacker changed it!

    Is there a way to email Facebook? I tried emailing support and… nothing. I’m so upset because there are so many pictures and videos of my daughter growing up. That’s all I want back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

      Try clicking on “forgotten password” and enter your email address. However, even though it finds my email address in their system, it still will not let me log on. When I try to send the a picture of a government ID, it says that I have to log on first. The whole problem is that I can not log on.

    My fb account got hacked a couple of days ago. They changed the email. I have been able to re-associate my email with the account but can
    t get into it because the password is changed and they set up 2 step verification to go to their cell phone, so I can never complete the process. Also, I’ve been able to get to the place to re-set the password and it says ‘unknown error’ and won’t go any further. My account seems to be inactive at this time. Not sure what to do or how at risk for further hacking I am at. Super frustrating trying to deal with fb. They have basically NO customer support that I can see. I’d love some help. I don’t know what else to do.

      Did you ever resolve your issue and if so, how? I’m dealing with the same issues right now. I continue to receive errors when I go to change my password and the 6 digit code never works when it’s sent to my email. It’s like I’m in this vicious circle and can’t get out.
