# Is Instagram Down Right Now? Free Live Status Check

Instagram not working? This free tool checks it for you. It tests Instagram from two places at once. One test runs from Famoid's servers. The other runs from your own connection. You get an answer in seconds. No login. No username. Nothing is stored.

## What the checker tells you

- **Instagram is up.** Both tests passed. If the app still fails, the problem is on your side. Use the fixes below.
- **Instagram is down.** Our servers could not reach Instagram. Other people have the same problem. Wait it out.
- **Only your test failed.** Your network, VPN or an ad-blocker is in the way. Instagram itself is fine.

The page also shows a 24-hour chart from our own monitor. It checks Instagram every three minutes. You can see if a problem is new or has been going on for hours.

## Is Instagram down, or am I blocked?

An outage hits everything: feed, Stories, DMs, search, for every account, and the checker goes red. A block is narrow. The rest of Instagram keeps working, but one profile shows "No posts yet" or will not load for you while a friend can see it fine. "User not found" is a third case: that account may be deactivated. One Story not loading proves nothing. Force-close the app first.

## Down for everyone, or just you?

1. Run the live check at the top of the page.
2. Turn Wi-Fi off and try mobile data. Or the other way around.
3. Open instagram.com in a private browser tab. If the website works but the app does not, the app is the problem.
4. Ask a friend on a different network.
5. Check X (Twitter). During a real outage many people post about it within minutes.

## Signs that Instagram is really down

- "Couldn't refresh feed" on every account and every network
- Stories and Reels spin forever while the rest works
- DMs stuck on "Sending…" for everyone
- "5xx Server Error" on the website
- A login loop with the right password
- Like and follower counts frozen or jumping

## Instagram is up but not working for you? Fixes in order

1. Close the app all the way and open it again.
2. Turn airplane mode on for ten seconds, then off.
3. Update the app.
4. Clear the cache. Android: Settings → Apps → Instagram → Storage → Clear cache. iPhone: delete and reinstall the app.
5. Turn off your VPN. Instagram blocks some VPN addresses.
6. Restart your phone.
7. If Instagram works on mobile data but never on one Wi-Fi, that network blocks it.

## What to do while Instagram is down

- Do not reset your password. Reset emails lag during outages.
- Never give your login to a "fix Instagram" app or site. No real status tool needs a password. This one included.
- Copy any unposted caption somewhere safe.
- Wait. Most outages end within a few hours.

## Will an outage affect your followers or likes?
