How To Fix Instagram Location Feature Properly!
There are a few reasons why your location feature might not be working, and sometimes they’re related to software updates, either done by your device or by Instagram themselves. While it can be annoying and time-consuming to try lots of different things, the below advice may help you get your location feature working again.
- The first thing to check is that you have your ‘Location’ setting switched on. You can access this by going into your Privacy Settings, and then making sure the feature is marked as allowed. This means that Instagram can access information about where you are, which will let you tag a location. Even if this has been previously allowed on your account, it’s worth checking the feature hasn’t been blocked by mistake.
- Try restarting the app. This may be necessary if you have had to change your privacy settings, and often solves issues you might run into. It’s best to restart your device as well, ensuring Instagram has fully closed and can be reopened fresh when you start your device up again. This might be enough to fix the issue.
If the problem persists.
- Check you have the latest update for Instagram, and download it if you don’t. Once it’s finished updating, restart your device again and see whether you’re still encountering problems.
- Try logging into your account on other devices and see whether the Location Feature is available on others. If it is, it might be an issue caused by your specific device, rather than something to do with Instagram. In this case, it’s best to contact customer support.
- Bizarrely, some users claim that logging out, changing their password, and then logging back in corrects the issue, although it’s hard to say why this might be the case.
- Reinstalling the app is the next step to try. You can delete it and do a complete fresh install, which should solve most issues on your end, making sure no information is getting stuck in a loop or not getting through as it should.

If you’re still having problems, you may need to contact Instagram help and support directly. They will be able to give you advice on what to try and may be able to ascertain why you’re having the issue. My problem is Instagram will only me to add locations in real time, and only nearby locations. For example if I try to post a pic of the Grand Canyon and I’m no longer there, it will auto-list locations in my home region but will not allow me to manually enter anything not already listed in the auto set. I have tried all of the above suggestions, except contacting Instagram directly.
Oh its common issue on some devices. May I ask the device model (example; samsung S9 or iPhone XS etc.)?
I used to be able to put locations in Instagram manually rather than what I’m near. Until recently. My phone works fine, but Android tablet Ellipsis 10 won’t allow it now. Tried uninstalling and reloading it to no avail. Location service seems to be on.
Due to a bug, some android devices cannot show locations, not related you. Will be fixed soon.
I am loged in to 2 accounts on instagram. And on one I can add a location, but on the other account I can not. And it is the same phone and the same app. I have tried all the steps. Any sugestion?

My problem is that I want to upload photos from Lightroom Mobile to Instagram using ‘Copy to Instagram’ on my iPhone XS Max. The photos are geotagged directly on my Fuji digital camera using Bluetooth. When I transfer them to Instagram it always used to pick up this location at time of capture but now it only suggests my current location and seems to just ignore the embedded location info in the photos.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
My problem is that even though instagram lets me add location on my post, after a while the location disappears from the post. Some of my followers can see it and some of them can’t. I tried all of the possible solutions and still is doing it. Any other suggestions?
This is a common problem on Instagram to prevent fake locations.

my problem is i have two a/c my personal and my business account, i can not link my business account FB page to my restaurant IG, and my restaurant IG can’t not load the location too, now even my personal account cant search the place please help

I’m having this problem both on Facebook and Instagram apps (check in works on PC on Facebook.) I’ve tried everything suggested in this article. I’ve even logged into Instagram on my husband’s phone, who hasn’t noticed any issues on his accounts, but the problem still persist on my account on his phone. Please Advice!

Hi guys, the location (not page) of my restaurant CITRON in Tokyo has disappeared a week ago. Since then, no customer nor myself (being the manager of my page) cant “check in” at CITRON on Facebook, nor Instagram.
Both SNS ignore my messages and I am getting really stressed as some “new” locations are appearing when the main one is gone. Can you guys please help? Anyone I should contact at Facebook (which seems to be the parent company managing locations)? Thanks a lot!

I work in a resort and the location tag somehow gone missing for about 3 weeks now, there’s another hotel that is nearby and whenever the guests uploading an IG story with the hotel’s tag, it will appear in ours instead but under the other hotel’s name. We cant seem to get back the location tag on IG and FB though we had reported it about 10 times with different employees’ accounts. Would really appreciate if anyone has a solution.

1- Change IG account to business
2- Connect Account with Facebook Page.
3- Enter Location Details into Facebook Page (in About section, Check-in section, and any other related sections)
4- Check after 24hrs you’ll see the hotel again.

So I have tried all of the suggestions but nothing is working. I can add the location for my personal account as well as a business account that I run but I also have one business account that won’t show the location at all. I can add it, make the post and it will show but once I refresh the photo it goes away! I do not know what to do about this!

Custom location appears and disappears on IG. Facebook sometimes I can check-in and few others can, but not everyone.
And yes I ‘added’ a location on FB first for it to appear on IG. It appears and then disappears with no one being able to see/check in. HELP!

Hi, my problem is that I am trying to set up a new location for my business, I know you have to set it up on Facebook first and then it appears on Instagram too. my problem is that Facebook lets me set up the location and allows me to share a post but when I go on Instagram it doesn’t appear, if I go back to Facebook and want to check myself in again it will not appear there too, makes me create a new one.
