# How to Get More Likes on Instagram

Page: https://famoid.com/how-to-get-more-likes-on-instagram/

Likes come from two things: more people seeing your post, and a strong reaction from each one. Here are the steps Instagram itself says its ranking rewards, in order.

## The short answer

To get more likes on Instagram, get each post in front of more people, and give them a reason to tap the heart. Post when your followers are online. Make reels people watch to the end. Put plain keywords in your caption. Reply to comments in the first week. Instagram says these are the things its ranking rewards.

## How Instagram picks who sees your post

Instagram has no single feed. Feed, Reels and Explore each rank posts their own way. Instagram [explains the signals it uses](https://about.instagram.com/blog/announcements/instagram-ranking-explained) on its own site.

For Feed, it guesses how likely you are to spend a few seconds on a post, comment on it, like it, share it, or tap the profile. For Reels, it guesses if you will watch to the end, like it, find it fun, or open the audio page.

| Where | What Instagram predicts |
|---|---|
| Feed | Time spent, likes, comments, shares, profile taps |
| Reels | Watching to the end, likes, "was this fun", audio page taps |
| Explore | Likes, saves, shares |

Instagram's creator team adds one more rule. What matters most is how much engagement each viewer gives. So likes come from reach plus a strong reaction from each person who sees the post. Chasing likes alone does not work. They arrive with the rest.

## Step 1: Post when your followers are online

Instagram Insights shows the hours and days your followers are most active. You need a public account with at least 100 followers. Insights is free. Instagram [lists what it shows](https://help.instagram.com/788388387972460/) in its Help Center.

1. Open your profile and tap **Insights**.
2. Tap **Total followers**.
3. Scroll to **Most active times**.

Find the tallest bar. Post a little before it, so the post is fresh when the crowd arrives. Instagram's own advice on timing is simple: post when your audience is awake and active, and use Insights to learn their habits. Our [best time to post on Instagram](/best-time-to-post-on-instagram/) guide covers each day of the week.

## Step 2: Make posts people finish and share

Reels are the format Instagram pushes to people who do not follow you. A few rules from Instagram itself:

- **Hook in the first 3 seconds.** That is when most people decide to stay or scroll.
- **Keep reels at 3 minutes or less.** Longer reels are not recommended to non-followers.
- **Post your own content.** Instagram is less likely to recommend reposts, videos with visible watermarks, or accounts that mainly reshare others' work.
- **Use trending audio that fits the video.** Sound is one of the signals Reels ranking reads.
- **Ask for one action.** "Save this for later" or "Send this to a friend." Shares and saves count on every surface.

Instagram says creators with the fastest follower growth post 10 or more reels a month. You do not need to match that. But one post a week is hard to grow from.

## Step 3: Use keywords and a few hashtags

Instagram search reads your captions. Put the words people would type into search in your caption, your bio, and your hashtags. Instagram lists this as one of its top tips for reach.

Hashtags still help, but only when they match the topic. Instagram says trending hashtags that fit your reel can reach people who care about that topic. Off-topic tags do nothing. Three to five good tags beat thirty random ones.

## Step 4: Reply to comments and team up

- **Reply within 7 days.** Instagram says to like or reply to comments on your reel within the first 7 days to get more engagement. Replies also keep the post moving.
- **Use collab posts.** Invite another account as a collaborator. If they accept, the post shows on both profiles and reaches both sets of followers. One post, two audiences, one like count.
- **Try trial reels.** A trial reel is shown to non-followers first. After about a day you see its views, likes, comments and shares. If it did well, share it with everyone.
- **Ask fans to add you to Favorites.** Posts from Favorites show higher in their feed.

## Why you are not getting likes

Check these in order:

1. **Is the like count hidden?** On your own post, the switch is under **Advanced settings** on the share screen. For posts you see from others, it is under **Settings**, then **What you see**, then **Like and share counts**. You still see your own totals. Our [how to hide likes on Instagram](/how-to-hide-likes-on-instagram/) guide has every step.
2. **Is your reach low?** Insights splits reach into followers and non-followers. If non-follower reach is near zero, your content is not being recommended.
3. **Check Account Status.** Instagram shows whether your account is eligible for recommendations and lists any strikes. Our [Instagram shadowban](/instagram-shadowban/) guide explains what to do if it says no.
4. **Are you reposting?** Reposts and watermarked videos get less reach. Use Remix instead.
5. **Is the audience just small?** Ten likes on a 100-follower account is normal. Check any account's real size with our free [Instagram follower count checker](/instagram-follower-count-checker/).

## Paid options, honestly

Instagram sells reach itself. On a professional account, open a post and tap **Boost** under it. You set a goal, an audience, a daily budget and a duration. The ad goes through review, then runs. A boost buys views, not likes. Likes only come if the post earns them.

Famoid sells [Instagram likes](/insta/) delivered through ads. Delivery starts within minutes and is spread out at a natural pace. There is also an [automatic likes plan](/buy-automatic-instagram-likes/), which sends likes to each new post you share. We only need your username, never your password. Paid likes do not change how Instagram ranks you. They give a post an early push while the steps above do the real work.

## Quick answers

**How do you get likes on Instagram fast?**

Post right before your followers' most active hour, shown in Insights. Use a reel with a strong first three seconds. Reply to every comment in the first days. These are the fastest levers, and they cost nothing.

**Why am I not getting likes on Instagram?**

The usual reasons are low reach, a hidden like count, reposted content, or an account that is not eligible for recommendations. Check Insights for reach, check the post's like count setting, and check Account Status in your settings.

**Do hashtags help you get more likes on Instagram?**

A little, when they match the topic. Instagram says relevant trending hashtags can help you reach people who care about that topic. Random or off-topic hashtags do not help. Keywords in the caption matter as much as tags now.

**How many posts a day should I share to get more likes?**

Instagram does not set a number. It says creators with the fastest follower growth post 10 or more reels a month on average. That is about one reel every three days. Steady beats bursts.

**Does replying to comments get you more likes?**

Yes. Instagram advises liking or replying to comments on your reel within the first 7 days to get more engagement. Replies also keep the post active longer, so more people see it.

**Can you buy likes on Instagram?**

Yes. Instagram sells reach through its own Boost button on a professional account. Famoid sells Instagram likes delivered through ads. Neither one can promise a set number of organic likes.
