Previously Facebook used to allow users to create polls on their business pages. Eventually, earlier in 2021, Facebook completely removed the poll feature from the business page. 

And now, as of 2022, you can create a poll only on Facebook groups. Facebook no longer allows you to create a poll on a Facebook page or a personal profile. 

How to Create a Poll on Facebook Group

However, if you don’t see the Poll option, continue with the below steps. 

Step 4. Go to the “Write Something” section in the group to create a post. After the Create Post pop-up appears, click the three horizontal dots on the Add to your post section. 

Step 5. Now another pop-up menu will appear on our screen with different tools and features— Click Poll from the options. 

Step 6. In the next updated Create Post pop-up, you can create polls. 

Step 7. Make sure to add the answers in the Options boxes. And write the question in the Write something section. 

If you want to add more than three poll answers, click on Add Options. If you want to remove an option, click on the X located on the right side. 

Step 8. Besides the Add option button, click on the gear icon to allow group members to add options or choose multiple answers. 

Step 9. Once you’ve created the poll, click on the Post button below. 

How to Create a Poll on Facebook Story

Polls are not available on Facebook personal profiles. However, there’s a way out!

You can create polls on a personal profile through the Facebook Story. Here’s how:

Step 1. Open the Facebook app on your mobile device. 

Step 2. Head to the Facebook Home page and tap on the Create Story option at the top.

Step 3. Now decide what type of story you’d like to post, for example, selfie, music, or green screen. You can create polls on every kind of post except the Text. Also, you can choose photos from your phone’s Gallery. 

Step 4. After selecting what to post, tap on the Stickers option at the top right of your screen.

Step 5. In the Stickers tab, click on the Poll sticker. 

Step 6. Now you’ll notice an option called Ask a question with Yes and No buttons. Type your question on the “Ask a question” field. You can edit the Yes or No button with your own preferred answer or emojis. 

Step 7. Tap on the Done option at the top when you complete creating your poll. 

Step 8. Now finally, tap on the Share button located on the right side of your screen. 

How to Create a Poll on Facebook Messenger

You can create Facebook polls on the Messenger app. Polls on the messenger app help you coordinate with your friends or colleagues in a group chat. With polls, you can ask people to vote and share their opinion during a conversation. Here’s how you can do that:

Create Facebook Poll on Messenger Via Desktop:

Step 1. Select the group chats to open it.

Step 2. Click on the + icon located near the bottom left of the conversation.

Step 4. Select What’s your poll about? To type your questions to ask in the group chat. 

Step 5. Enter the answers as options to choose from. 

Step 6. Click on the Create Poll button.

Create Facebook Poll on Messenger Via app:

Step 1. Open the messenger app and head to the chats section. 

Step 2. Select the group chat where you’d like to create a poll. 

Step 3. Tap on the four-dotted icon, located at the bottom left side of your screen. 

Step 4. On the given options, tap on the Polls option. 

Step 5. Add a question for the poll and enter a few answers as options. 

Step 6. Tap the Create Poll button at the bottom of the screen. 

Note: the messenger polls feature may not be available in all countries, including Japan and some regions in Europe.  

How to Create Facebook Poll on the Event Page

For now, you can’t create polls on a Facebook event page. In Facebook’s recent update, the poll feature is also removed from the event page. 

Previously a host of a Facebook event could create polls by following the steps below:

Step 1. Log in to your Facebook app. 

Step 2. Tap on the three horizontal lines icon on the top right side of your screen. 

Step 3. Scroll down till you see the Events option. 

Step 4. Select the event, and tap the Start Discussion option. 

Step 5. On the “Add a Post” field, tap the Poll icon to add questions and answers. 

Step 6. Once you’ve finished creating the poll, tap on the Post option to post it on your event’s page. 

However, as mentioned earlier, the polls feature isn’t available on the Facebook event page. You can only create polls on the groups and Facebook Stories.
